Mount Azhdahak offers one of Armenia’s most memorable high-altitude day hikes—perfect for those who love nature, adventure, and panoramic views.

Mount Azhdahak is the highest and most iconic peak of the Geghama Mountain Range in Armenia, standing at 3,597 meters. This extinct volcano features an impressive 500 m-wide crater that holds a photogenic crater lake, formed by melting snow.

From the summit, hikers can enjoy sweeping panoramas across Lake Sevan, Mount Ararat, Aragats, Hatis, Ara, and the rest of the Geghama peaks. The higher slopes are mostly barren, with volcanic scree and minimal vegetation, while alpine meadows and ancient petroglyph sites dot the lower terrains
